In 1991 the PTA started the Folk Festival as a fund raiser in the village hall. Since then, the Festival has grown, but still remains true to its roots. It is organised and run by a group of volunteers dedicated to bringing good music into Priddy and raising money for the village school and other village projects. Having had to cancel the 2001 Festival due to Foot and Mouth, we celebrated our 21st Birthday in 2012 with some new ideas focused on promoting young musicians – something we plan to carry on.
The Festival is now based on and around the historic green in Priddy – the most wonderful setting for a weekend of music.
We are known for our relaxed, friendly atmosphere, so to sit out in the open or under canvas listening to music, chatting with friends, or having a drink with everyone else around you is pretty much normal for us.
The Folk Festival puts a lot of emphasis on the feedback we receive. The most requested bands get booked for the following year wherever possible and all suggestions are looked into. The more you tell us, the more we can add to festivals in the future, plus, you get the chance of winning a free ticket!
You can feedback to us in a number of ways. We email an online survey form to every ticket holder and Steward as well as providing paper forms during the event.
The Festival relies on a small army of volunteer stewards who work as part of the trusted stewarding team. We could not run the weekend without people who are prepared to give up some of their weekend in return for a free ticket and have a core team who come back year after year. If you are interested in joining the team and being a steward, please download the Stewarding Application Form on the Stewarding at Priddy page.
Apart from the folk Festival, Priddy has other organisations that also raise money for the village – the famous Priddy Sheep Fair and the very popular Bonfire Night are two of the many fund raising events in the busy Priddy calendar.
We also run occasional music events in the Village Hall. we promote this via our email mailing list. If you want to join the mailing list you can register here.
