Dick Stephens began singing in the mid 1980s at Cheddar Folk Club and, with John ‘Jingles’ Williams formed a duo called the Belfry Boys. They performed scurrilous speleological parodies of existing folk songs at Priddy Folk Fayre and local folk clubs.
Mick Ryan heard the Belfry Boys at Cheddar Folk Festival in the early 1990s and as a result the four-part harmony group Cantoris were formed.
Dick now performs occasionally to folk clubs around the country where his rich, bass voice is much admired. Dick will also MC the great line up in Eastwater on Friday night.
