Three More Acts for 2017

A triple treat of young acts has been added to the burgeoning line-up for Priddy 2017.

Already on the agenda for this year’s festival are Flook,  Mawkin,  Jim Causley and the  Firepit Collective, amongst others. Now we’ve added some fresh names to our roster.

Following The Shee and Adam Holmes down from Scotland are exciting trio Talisk, above, who have been making waves north and south of the border since Mohsen Amini (concertina), Hayley Keenan (fiddle) and Craig Irving (guitar)  formed Talisk in 2014.

Little more than a year later, the trio were won the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award and in 2016 Mohsen was named Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year. All three contribute fabulous musicianship to an intense rich sound and have been wowing audiences around the UK and beyond. Hear them here.

From closer to home are Effra – another trio consisting of Alex Bishop (guitar), Tom Newell (fiddle, mandolin) and Aidan Shepherd (accordion). Hailing from Bath the threesome deliver a remarkably fresh take on traditions tunes, which emerges from their diverse musical backgrounds in jazz, classical and rock. You can get a little flavour of that  here.

Hannah Cumming and Jonny Dyer have been no strangers to Priddy Folk Festival over the years. The pair were part of the Dyer:Cummings Band which played back in 2009 and 2010.  We are delighted to welcome them back as a duo in 2017.
