We have a fantastic programme planned for this year’s Priddy Folk Festival Children’s Festival, with lots of new faces and plenty of old friends.
One highlight not to be missed is the amazing Fidaddle who take their audiences on an interactive musical journey complete with juggling tricks and unicycling.
Fidaddle (pictured above) are Oli, who will be well known to Priddy audiences as the fiddle player with Jamie Smith’s Mabon and Luke Goss who tours regularly with the poet and media sensation Ian MacMillan.
Together the perform everything from barnstorming bluegrass to sizzling gypsy serenades and with plenty of opportunities for joining in, this is a show the whole family will love.
Also new for this year we have an African songs workshop with Eliza Wylie, and an ‘Instrument Circle” with Andy Hawkings. During the instrument circle, all different types of instrument will be brought together in a facilitated ‘drum circle’ style.
Whether you bring your own instruments or use those provided, this is a show which is suitable for any age, young or old!
We have some of the old favourite workshops back including Collective Songwriting with Andy Hawkings, Spoons with Jo May (left) and Hop, Skip and Sing for the under fives.
We also have the kids Ceilidh run by Sam from Squeeze, Fiddle, Pluck and singing workshops with Katrine Reimers who runs the Priddy Singers and the school choir.
The Children’s Festival will end with a performance for the kids from ‘Stompin’ Dave Allen. He sings and plays guitar, banjo, fiddle, harmonica, piano and tap dances in an old-time flatfooting style often whilst playing an instrument and singing.
Come and join us at the Kids’ tent for any of the sessions, all are welcome!
