Griffin & Collier is the new folk duo from the creative voices behind the critically acclaimed global folk band Mishra. Known for their award-winning ,continent-crossing collaborations that include Indian classical and traditional music from Mozambique, Kate Griffin and Ford Collier now hone in on a more intimate exploration of their roots in the folk music of the British Isles and America.
Kate Griffin’s clawhammer banjo is at home within the earthy tones of old time Americana, and Ford Collier has absorbed the techniques of contemporary Irish low whistle pioneers such as Brian Finnegan and Michael McGoldrick. Kate adds to the mix stunning songs that draw from the same creative well, and the resulting sound shifts seamlessly from hypnotic banjo backed by driving guitar, to flowing whistle tunes drawn from Irish trad and intricately rearranged, creating a dynamic tapestry that traces the continuing journey of traditional music from the British Isles.
