Catch the best of dance at Priddy!

The Priddy Folk Festival dance programme features some of the best folk dance acts from the south west and beyond. Taking place in the Eastwater Marquee and the Market Square, there’s an international flavour with styles from Brittany, North America and of course English morris and Rapper.

Highlights include an appearance by Silver Flame Rapper (above) a young side from all over the UK who have put their very own Doc Marten stamp on traditional sword rapper sword dances.

There is also French/Breton dance with the ever-popular Mominettes and caller Ruth Farnell, and morris from Cotswold-style local side Cam Valley Morris Men and Yeovil-based Wyvern Jubilee Morris.

Look out too for some north-west clog from Treacle Eater Clog and Appalachian dance from the Applejacks. There’s also maypole and dance displays from pupils of Priddy Primary School.

And if you want to have a go yourself don’t forget there will be workshops and late night ceilidhs in the village hall.

Local favourites Dragonsfly lead the dance on Friday night. The set starts with some great Breton music. Maya will teach some French Bal and Breton dancing; then as the night gets late the band will let rip and play a blasting set of French, Balkan and all the best that Dragonsfly can do.
