Friday night at Priddy 2016 is looking even better after exciting young Scottish quintet Fara have been added to the opening evening’s programme.
Featuring four fiddles and a piano, Fara create a stirring sound deeply rooted in the Scottish folk tradition but also bringing an exciting edge which is sure to get everybody going. Expect plenty of dancing!
The band – Jennifer Austin, Louise Bichan, Kristan Harvey, Jeana Leslie and Catriona Price – began playing backing to Orkney outfit The Chair, led by Douglas Montgomery of Saltishforty who played a storming set at Priddy last year. Hear them here.
Also added to Friday night’s programme is Mishaped Pearls – an adventurous and highly original seven-piece band whose recent album Thamesis was described as “One of THE albums of the year so far” by Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2 and has also won enthusiastic praise from fellow BBC presenters Mark Radcliffe and Tom Robinson on BBC 6Music and four star reviews in The Guardian and The Scotsman.
