The line-up for Priddy Folk Festival 2017 is now complete with some of the final additions being among the most exciting yet.
The great news is the return of popular Priddy acts Jamie Smith’s Mabon, Tom McConville and Faustus.
The festival also welcomes back Jenn Butterworth and Laura Beth Salter who made their impressive debut last year and the impressive young innovators Gadarene who last played three years ago.
There’s also plenty of new talent to take in such as the incredible Anglo-French collaboration Topette!!, Medicine Creek, fast-rising Ceilidh band Lasair and good-time dance band Mr Tea and the Minions.
No strangers at all to Priddy, Welsh Celtic superband Jamie Smith’s Mabon brought the house down – and the festival to a triumphant close – in 2012. Since then they have released their fifth album, The Space Between to massive acclaim broadening their style and appeal in the process. Click here for a video of a track from the album.
Faustus are familiar faces too and the ‘bloke folk’ trio of Benji Kirkpatrick, Saul Rose and Paul Sarin are currently celebrating a prestigious German music critics award for their latest album Death and Other Animals. Other category winners included some obscure outfit called The Rolling Stones. Here’s the boys performing Prentice Boy, a track from their previous album Broken Down Gentlemen.
Featuring English melodeon legend Andy Cutting and Mawkin‘s James Delarre, Topette!! are an exciting new collaboration featuring Celtic influences from both sides of the channel. This video captures all you need to know about just how good they are.
