We have confirmed the first names for the 2016 Priddy Folk festival. They include new and familiar faces, rising stars and established artists – just the first batch of performers for what promises to be a fabulous festival.
One of the highlights will be the appearance of Lady Maisery – an all-star trio consisting of Hannah James (of Kerfuffle fame) on accordion, Hazel Askew (from The Askew Sisters) on harp and Fidola’s Rowan Rheingans on fiddle and banjo. You can get a taste of what they do here.
Belshazzar’s Feast – aka Paul Hutchinson (accordion) and Paul Sartin (oboe, violin and vocals) – are no strangers to Priddy and they return in 2016 for more frolicsome fun and fine musicianship. Is this tune Danish or Portuguese? You decide.
Another familiar face returning to Priddy Rory McLeod – a genuine troubadour from the east end of London whose song stories of love and justice are poignant and funny in equal measure. He plays at Priddy with his band the Familiar Strangers but this video is a virtuoso solo performance which illustrates his hypnotic talent.
Other confirmed names include Ant Noel & the Peabody Drakes – who wowed everyone in the club tent last year – Beth Porter and the Availables, Meclir, Lucy Ward Band, Baraka, Breabach, Calan, Dallahan, Sam Mabett & Dylan Cairn Howarth and the Drystones.
