Many of you will remember Matchume Zango & Kate Griffin who closed out last year’s Priddy Folk Festival on Sunday afternoon with their delightfully dancey vibe. To get you in the mood for this year’s Priddy Folk Festival, they are coming to Priddy Village Hall on 15th May. Tickets are available online from the WegotTickets website.
Kate is a U.K. banjo player, and Matchume is a Mozambican multi-instrumentalist. Together, they are forging a new cross-cultural collaboration, celebrating the universal power of traditional music. They each bring echoes of their respective traditions to a vibrant new sound full of world rhythms, contemporary song-writing and joy.
Their touring show features Matchume’s array of percussion instruments – including timbila, xitende, mbira and congas – together with Kate’s banjo and a supporting trio comprising Evan Carson on drums, Ben Evans on bass and Priddy’s own Ford Collier on low whistle and guitar.
Tickets are bound to sell out fast, so get yours now!
