Priddy Acts Scoop Top BBC Folk Awards

The Young’uns, who will be playing in the Sunday schedule at this year’s Priddy Folk Festival – won one of the top awards at this year’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards held in Belfast on April 4.

The trio (above), always popular visitors to Priddy, took the coveted Best Album award for their fabulous album Strangers which has been winning plaudits since its release last September – The Guardian hailed it as ‘joyous’ – for its powerful and beautiful songs tackling some of the big issues of our time. One song from album, Be The Man, was also nominated for the Best Track award.

There was also joy for two other artists heading to Priddy 2018. Young Scottish supergroup Ímar – who are made up of members of recent Priddy performers Barrule and last year’s sensations Talisk took the Horizon award.

And concertina virtuoso Mohsen Amini, a member of both Talisk and Ímar, took the highly-prized Folk Musician of the Year award.

We can’t wait to see Mohsen, Imar and The Young’uns playing on Priddy’s village green this year as well as The Drystones (Best Young Folk Act) and Sam Kelly (Best Group) who were also nominated for awards at the ceremony, which was broadcast live on BBC Radio 2.
