Last year’s Visual Artists at the Festival were Libby Bove with her fantastic ‘Museum of Roadside Magic’ truck and crew. You asked for more – so this year we’ve again got art on wheels in the form of The Caravan Gallery, which will be parked up on the Green throughout the Festival.
We are delighted that photographers Chris and Jan, who make up The Caravan Gallery, will be our artists in residence for the duration of the Festival, bringing a unique documentary photography project that has travelled the length and breadth of Britain for 25 years, photographing people and places, looking for the unusual and unexpected…
They have already visited the village in the run-up to the Festival, meeting many, many villagers and taking hundreds of photographs of the people they’ve met and the things and places they’ve seen. They’ll be presenting this work as a ‘Portrait of Priddy’ in and around the Caravan as well as launching two new ‘Postcards of Priddy’ as additions to their long-running postcards of place series.
So look out for their distinctive (and recently refurbished) bright yellow 1960s caravan parked up on the Green. This is their Gallery, workshop, and part-time social club! So feel free to drop by and say hello, look at the photos – and maybe spot yourself or your house – make a collage or postcard in their drop-in workshop next to the Caravan. They will also be selling postcards and photo books from their quarter century of travels!
We think everyone in the village who met them recently will agree that they are probably the friendliest artists on the planet! So don’t feel shy and they may even take your portrait!!
