How our community benefits

A group of people singling.

We are really proud that Priddy Folk Festival is a registered charity run by volunteers.  Our charitable aims are promoting folk music and the arts and improving the environs of Priddy.

This year’s Folk Festival raised a surplus of over £33k. The Festival Committee met in October where we were able to review applications from local groups for funds.

Once again, we have been able to support music tuition for all children at our local primary school (Priddy and St Lawrence’s).  This means all KS2 pupils can learn a brass instrument and participate in the school band.  All KS1 pupils will receive percussion tuition.  We look forward to next year’s festival for yet another rousing performance from our local budding stars!

We are also continuing to support Priddy Rising, which works with pupils at our local comprehensive (The Blue School) to produce a professional-standard concert at the Festival each year. Funds also provide music bursaries for pupils to attend Halsway Manor, the National Centre for Folk Arts based in Somerset.

Other funding was given to local groups to support activities throughout the year.  We are supporting various improvements around the village, including a pledge of significant support towards the Parish Council’s project for a village playground.  Other monies will be ploughed back into improving the breadth of the programme at next year’s festival and our supporting infrastructure.

None of this would be possible without all our volunteers, our local community and our festival-goers themselves, so THANK YOU once again.  We hope to see you all at next year’s Destival which will be held on 12th to 14th July 2024, so please put it in your diaries now!
