Tim Edey added to 2019 line-up

English folk instrumentalist extraordinaire Tim Edey is the latest big name to be added to or line-up for 2019.

Tim is one of the best loved performers on the international folk scene, a true master of both guitar and box who has played around the world with some of the biggest names in Celtic folk. In 2014 he toured America as part of The Chieftains and has played extensively with a whole host of top names that reads like folk royalty – Christy Moore, Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Capercaillie, Michael McGoldrick, Mary Black… honestly, the list goes on and on.

What all those great artists saw was one of the finest guitarists in the world today, combined with a fantastic melodeon player. Add a cheeky sense of humour and you have one of the most complete performers in the world today.

He released his third album, The Sleeping Tunes in 2017 and in 2018 was nominated for Musician of the Year in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards – a title he won in 2012. In the same year he also won Best Duo with Brendan Power. The pair released an superb album, Wriggle and Writhe, in 2011.

Originally from Broadstairs in Kent and of Irish descent, Tim honed his style learning from his father Richard – a fine guitarist in his own right – and listening to Ed Boyd, Steve Cooney and Django Reinhardt. He has lived in Ireland and now lives in Perthshire.

Tim’s live solo shows are a stunning mix of world music-inspired instrumental virtuosity and passion with a strong Celtic theme that inspire audiences – in short a highly entertaining set crammed with fun and musical genius. Get a taste here!

He joins the fast-forming 2019 line-up for Priddy that already includes Granny’s Attic, Rachael McShane and The Cartographers and Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra.
